Edna Lois Short

Edna Lois Short of Green Forest, Arkansas, passed away February 17, 2026, in Berryville, Arkansas at the age of 79 with family by her side. She was born on April 26, 1946, in Pawnee, Oklahoma to Albert and Virginia (Taylor) Negelein.

Edna married Howard A.M. Short on July 5, 1969. Together they raised 2 children Daniel and Nancy.  Edna retired from Tyson Foods in Green Forest. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening and sewing.  She loved to attend her Cousin’s Club to sew and do crafts. Edna had a passion for working with children.  She was a Cub Scout leader, a Girl Scout leader, and taught Sunday school at the Church of Christ in Green Forest. Edna also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.  They would play games, bake, sew, listen to music, and she would take them to church. 

She is survived by one son Daniel Short and wife Amy of Plummerville, AR; one daughter Nancy Forshee and husband Bobbie of Green Forest, AR; four grandchildren Brendon Short of Knoxville, AR, Daniel Forshee and wife Jessica of Harrison, AR, Sabrina Short and fiancé Paul Tilley of Springfield, AR, and Heather Short of Springfield, AR; one sister Geneva Mitchell and husband Steve of Grandview, AR; one brother Marvin Negelein of Grandview, AR; several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends. 

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Howard Short, her parents, and one brother Bobbie Rex Negelein.  

Celebration of Life will be at 10:00 AM. Monday, February 23, 2026, at the Church of Christ in Green Forest, AR with Bro. Jon Hendrix officiating. Interment will follow at the Ward Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home.
